Cosmetic dentistry is an effective way to achieve the smile you have always wanted

Discolored, stained, chipped, worn, misaligned, broken or spaced teeth may be some of the concerns that you have about your teeth and smile. Cosmetic dentistry can help you achieve your smile goals while keeping in mind your overall oral health goals. After all, your smile is your most important asset, and our team at Seattle Smiles Dental is committed to helping you achieve a smile that makes a lasting impression.

What is cosmetic dentistry?

In general, cosmetic dentistry refers to any dental procedure that enhances or improves the appearance of gums, teeth and/or bite. We primarily focus on improving the dental esthetics in position, color, alignment, size, shape and overall smile appearance.

The following are some, but not all, cosmetic dentistry services:

  • Teeth whitening –  Through this procedure, we fabricate custom-made whitening trays to be utilized with our prescription-strength, whitening solution. In our office we do not use in-office light activation to whiten the teeth due to the high rate of extreme tooth sensitivity during and after the procedure. Our focus is on your comfort while achieving your oral health goals.
  • Dental porcelain veneers – Dental veneers are strong, tooth-colored and porcelain “shells” that are sometimes no thicker than a contact lens which may change the shape, shade, size and tooth position of any tooth in a smile. Dental veneers may also be used to address discolored, chipped, broken, spaced or crowded teeth. Dental veneers are frequently used in smile makeovers.
  • Gum reshaping – We may refer you to a gum specialist, a periodontist, who may do some gum recontouring or grafting to address concerns about “too much gum” or “too little gum” around a tooth or smile.
  • Porcelain crowns – Crowns are like porcelain veneers which cover the entire tooth, front to back instead of just the front.
  • Cosmetic contouring – Cosmetic contouring is a relatively simple and quick procedure. Minor polishing and contouring can smooth small fractures and chips, redefine worn or flat teeth and reshape pointy teeth.
  • Teeth bonding – Teeth bonding utilizes tooth-shaded bonding materials so that minor tooth shading and shape concerns can be addressed.
  • Invisalign – Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces that can address spaced or crowded teeth and re-align teeth to create a healthy smile.
